Project revision: Preserving Identities

My project with regards to human trafficking has taken a few turns over the last few weeks.

I've gone from trying to solely develop a cinematic production to trying to do a documentary style production to educate New Zealanders about Human trafficking.

From this, I thought about conducting interviews from members of the public to gather knowledge about how aware New Zealanders are about the risk of human trafficking especially when traveling overseas.

Again the project developed and I needed to figure out a way to conduct these interviews while preserving the identity of the interviewees especially if the documentary went online.

So this is where my practices based research will continue from.

To start with I will take photos of people to experiment with different ways I can preserve people's identity while still taking an ascetically pleasing photo/video of them. then I will move on to filming people and conducting interviews from the knowledge I gained from the trial photographs.

Different elements of photography/cinematography I will experiment with will be:

Exposure

Focus

Reflections

Angle

 Framing

Questions I will be experimenting with within each of these aspects will be when does the subject become identifiable when variables are changed.

For example when framing a subject how much of the face can be shown before identity is revealed. or how out of focus does the subject need to be before they are recognisable.
